David steps into the wild one's shoes

Shout!- The legend of the wild one, the explosive new stage musical based on the life and music of Australia's own rock legend - Johnny O'Keefe - and staring Adelaide's David Campbell, will open for a limited season from 21 June at the Festival Theatre.

SHOUT! is the classic story of the beginning of ron'n'roll in Australia. From the early days of the Sydney Stadium through the television year of six o'clock Rock and Sing Sing Sing, this multi-million dollar theatrical production tells the story of Johnny O'Keefe and the music that has rocked generations.

David is no stranger to theatre. He's known on both sides of the Pacific as an actor and singer of extraordinary talent. he starred in Guys and Dolls in Australia and whilst in New York preformed in Stephen Sondheim's Saturday Night. In 1998 David won the prestigious
Mo Award as Outstanding Feature Actor in a Musical for his role as Marius in the Tenth Anniversary production of Les Miserables in
Sydney. In Adelaide's SHOUT! David is sure to bring the house down as he has done in the eastern states.

SHOUT!, written by John Michael Howson, David Mitchell and Melvyn Morrow, follows Johnny O'Keefe's life from the time he left school
through to his heady days of stardom with hit records, packed venues and top rating television show. It also brings us offstage into the
legend's personal life with its friendships, health problems and difficulties to conform to family life. Eventually, we experience the amazing comebacks that won O'Keefe the admiration of the next generation rock fans and brought him back up to the top again (where he stayed until his death in 1978)

More than 30 songs feature in SHOUT!, accompanied by 50 singers, dancers, musicians and a live orchestra. You'll hear She's my baby,
wild one, move baby move, crazy, bye bye baby, rock around the clock, chapel of love and of cours SHOUT!. The evening wouldn't be complete without a few classic cars from the era and you won't be disappointed - a gabulous '59 Plymouth Belevedere and two FJ Holdens make it to the stage, threatening to upstage the 300 stunning costumes and awe-inspiring choreography.

SHOUT! is a performance filled with humour, pathos and excitement, not to mention David Campbell - a young Australian who has already reached great success in the United States and Australia. Critics and audiences alike have raved about Campbell and this show is likely to
take him to a new level of fame.
